“ No one is a slut. “Slut” is a made-up word to keep women from having as much fun as men. A person who enjoys sex is just a person and a person who is a virgin is also just a person and everyone should lay off each other’s sex lives. Retire the word “slut” please. ”

“Judgments”I took this last year, but in retrospect, I think it’s my strongest piece from high school.
Working on this project really made me examine my own opinions, preconceptions and prejudices about “slutty” women and women who choose to cover all of their skin alike. I used to assume that all women who wore Hijabs were being oppressed, slut-shame, and look down on and judge any woman who didn’t express her sexuality in a way that I found appropriate.
I’d like to think I’m more open now.

Miley Cyrus is called a ‘Slut’ and a ‘Whore’ on a daily basis although she has been with the same guy for 4 years and they’re now engaged.

Taylor Swift is called “Lovely” , “Kind” , “Elegant” etc, and she has seen 14 guys in the past 4 years.

First off, Miley Cyrus should not be called those words. No one should. But Taylor Swift shouldn’t either. I realize Taylor’s lyrics and actions aren’t always those of a perfect feminist, but pointing out that she’s called nice words even though she’s seen 14 guys in the past 4 years and comparing it to Miley being called degrading words even though she’s seen the same guy for four years is not okay. Because in making this comparison, you are essentially saying that words should be switched around, or at least that is how the post reads to me.

The focus of this post could have been great. You could have said why Miley and no one should be called a slut or whore, but instead this post read as why Taylor Swift is a slut for seeing 14 guys in 4 years. Calling Miley a slut is slut-shaming, but so is saying Taylor Swift doesn’t deserve to be called lovely because she has dated so many guys. Maybe that wasn’t your intention, but that’s how it read to me. Hopefully I’m just interpreting it the wrong way.

And “bitch” is attacking women for their right to call you on it.
